Desktop Mockup
I created a mock up PSD of what my final desktop layout would look like upon a photo shopped image of a computer. For future improvements I could potentially remove the text element from the original layout below and instead enhance the vector images and shapes so that in an interactive display the image could be clicked and then the information associated with that image would come up alongside.

Desktop Layout/Infograph
I felt to associate the content of the inforgraph on general relativity to the concept of learning and educating, I chose to include elements of a blackboard, which is something that has strong connotations with a classroom and learning. I created this through the use of a chalk texture on both the text and some of the shape outlines. Also to further this sense of hand drawn and individuality, the fill texture on shapes was stylized to look as if it had been drawn in.
I chose to subtly section off certain pieces of text and information using the grid structure in order to separate the different pieces of information and images. I think I utilized space effectively within my desktop layout, as there’s a nice flow from one piece of text to the other, also as there is no real hierarchy of information, both visually and theoretically, it allows people to read the information in their own way.

Colour Palettes
As a starting point, I focused upon colour palettes as an interchangeable element for all of my layouts and infographic. From looking and researching into infographics, I noticed a repeating occurrence of a colour palette limited to nearly just 3/4 colours. These are a few infographics I found on Pinterest that support this statement, they also tend to use a striking contrast in colours, with both a striking dark colour and then also a bold, bright colour that compliment each other effectively.
For my colour scheme I chose 2 main colours, a teal-y blue and white, I also felt to draw in attention a brighter, more striking colour was needed, and as my infograph included a sun vector image I incorporated the colour yellow in some areas. These colours will be consecutive and applied within all my layouts, to provide a sense of coherence and relation.

Einstein and General Relativity
As my chosen target audience is a younger demographic, I decided to adopt image and colour within my branding logo. I also felt the end result of the portrait image of Einstein I created effectively suggests a sense of fun and interaction, with the renown facial expression that is associated with Einstein.
This also enabled me to interconnect each layout design through the inclusion of this image and similar colour theme.

Infographic Workshop
During our workshop in week 8 we were given the task to re-create an infographic within Illustrator based upon the history of Lincoln.
This infographic displays various ways in which data can be represented visually. It varies from graphs, maps, pictograms and factual data. All these techniques are effective in displaying their differing data, some factual information is more appropriate to display through different means, for example percentages are more recognisable within pie charts. Data can also be presented in ways that target various target audiences; pictograms are often used to present data to a younger target audience as the associated pictures create more of a fun and engaging feel.
